In collaboration with SOS Botswana, IDIT has successfully implemented projects in Sexual Reproductive Health, Livelihoods, and Life Skills. These initiatives have:

  • Trained transitioning youths in self-awareness, communication, and community living.
  • Delivered tailored sessions on vocational and entrepreneurial skills to prepare young people for independent living.
  • Enhanced employability and job creation among vulnerable populations, particularly teenage mothers and youths with disabilities.

Operational Capacity

Our team consists of four dedicated staff members and a Board of five experienced individuals who provide strategic leadership and oversight.

Key staff members include:

An Accountant: Holding a degree in Finance, ensuring financial transparency and integrity.
Two Project Officers: With degrees in Community Development and over four years of experience in community-based programming within the Botswana context.

Core Programmatic Areas

1Climate Change and Environmental Conservation

Promoting community-driven conservation practices to mitigate climate risks.
Facilitating roundtable discussions and scenario planning with local stakeholders for climate adaptation strategies.

2Renewable Energy Solutions

Implementing clean energy projects, including solar-powered systems, to improve energy access for off-grid communities.
Training communities on the use of renewable energy for sustainable livelihoods.

3Livelihoods Development

Addressing unemployment and poverty through vocational training and entrepreneurial development.
Partnering with organizations like SOS Botswana to equip marginalized youths with life skills and practical trades to foster job creation.

4Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)

Implementing SRHR education programs targeting teenage mothers, school dropouts, and students.
Promoting awareness of family planning, maternal health, and gender-based violence prevention.

5Health, Hygiene, Water, and Sanitation (WASH)

Providing safe water solutions and hygiene education in underdeveloped areas.
Advocating for sustainable sanitation practices to improve community health outcomes.

6Refugee Protection and Social Accountability

Supporting refugee and migrant communities with livelihood programs, psychosocial support, and advocacy for their rights.
Strengthening local capacity for transparent and accountable governance to address refugee and community needs.
